Working to create a community free from violence.

Founder & Executive Director, Christine Alfons

Safe Engage Foundation was Founded by Christine in 2015 in Kenya. Christine grew up in Kehancha where every girl was expected to be cut & violated. Christine’s father Alfons didn’t believe in FGM/C or harming girl children in any form of abuse. He stood up against an entire community who demanded Christine to be cut. This costed Alfons his life and Christine lost her father to so called “honour” killing when she was 8 years old.

Christine grew up in fear and wanted to ensure no other girl child felt the way she did and lived through the terrors she has been subjected to. She created Safe Engage Foundation where she could work to end what killed her father; patriarchy.

Safe Engage Foundation today supports hundreds of women and girls every year through seven different programmes and we became a refuge to girls who need a safe housing during the cutting season.
