Sharon’s Journey: A Triumph of Determination and Support

In the bustling village of Kurutyange, there lives a determined young girl named Sharon. At just 16 years old, her life took a challenging turn, but her spirit remains unyielding.

Sharon’s story began in the corridors of Kurutyange Primary School, where she was a participant in our mentorship program - Hold My Hand Initiative. Bright-eyed and eager to learn, Sharon faced an unexpected twist during her final year of primary education(2023). Despite her dedication to her studies, she found herself subjected to child marriage and expecting a child while still in class 8.

In the face of adversity, Sharon refused to let her dreams slip away. With the unwavering support of our mentorship program, along with the partnership with the Department of Children and the steadfast guidance of the area chief, Sharon embarked on a journey of resilience and determination.

Through countless meetings, advocacy efforts, and tireless coordination, we managed to secure Sharon’s registration for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams, ensuring that her educational aspirations remained within reach.

Undeterred by the challenges she faced, Sharon bravely sat for her exams, her determination shining through every question she answered. Despite the added weight of pregnancy and staying out of school for two terms from January to September, Sharon achieved an impressive score of 248 marks out of a possible total of 500 marks—a testament to her unwavering commitment to her education and future.

But Sharon’s story doesn't end there. In the months that followed, she welcomed her bundle of joy into the world with love and tenderness. Now, as she looks towards the future, Sharon is faced with a new set of obstacles—chief among them, the pursuit of her high school education.

As Sharon stands at the threshold of her next chapter, we are committed to standing by her side every step of the way. But we cannot do it alone. We are reaching out to our community, seeking support and assistance to ensure that Sharon has the opportunity to continue her education and pursue her dreams.

With your help, we can empower Sharon to defy the odds, break barriers, and create a brighter future for herself and her child. Together, let's write the next chapter of Sharon’s story—one filled with hope, opportunity, and endless possibility
